
Crimson was founded in 2003 in Austin, Texas with the goal of improving physician performance through automating the compilation and presentation of physician performance data. The company is employee-owned.
Mike Kadyan | CEO
As co-founder and CEO of Crimson, Mike is committed to helping hospitals improve quality and profitability by improving physician performance.
Prior to Crimson, Mike was CEO and co-founder of WhisperWire, an enterprise software company in the CRM space. The company was acquired by Convergys (NYSE:CVG), a $2 billion technology services company. He previously also ran the telecom services business unit at Trilogy, a software company specializing in the interactive selling market and was also a senior consultant at Accenture.
Mike has a BS in Information Systems from Boston University, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Mike is married to Cathy O'Neill, the author of Babyproofing your Marriage, and they have two daughters. In his spare time he enjoys fishing, hunting and any activity that generally keeps him outdoors.
William Chan | VP Products
As co-founder of Crimson, William's healthcare industry experience, product marketing expertise, and knowledge of IT systems plays a leading role in the design and development of innovative solutions for the healthcare industry.
Previously, William was the co-founder and VP of Marketing at WhisperWire, where he led the sales and marketing strategies and product development efforts with the largest telecommunications providers in the United States.
Prior to WhisperWire, William grew and managed the product marketing organization at Motive Communications, a software company. William was also a product manager at Oracle Corporation and NetDynamics (now Sun Microsystems).
William has a degree in Computer Science from Cornell University and an MBA with honors from Harvard Business School.
When he's not busy learning about new technology and how to harness it for the healthcare industry, William has been known to partake in the revolutionary technology that is the Nintendo Wii.
David Chao, Ph.D. | VP Development
David brings his experience in enterprise and highly complex scientific software development to bear on continuous expansion of the Crimson product portfolio.
Before joining Crimson, David was the co-founder of SC Global Strategies, a consulting firm focused on successful integration of diverse product development and quality assurance teams within enterprise software companies. Prior to SC Global Strategies, David built and led product teams at Softbrands Hospitality and Trilogy.
David has a B.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin, with research in the field of theoretical particle physics. Research included building models of the fundamental forces of nature as well as application of computational techniques, such as neural networks, to theoretical and experimental physics. He has published nearly two dozen papers in refereed journals, including in the profession's top publication, Physical Review Letters.
David also founded, performs with, and composes for the Austin-based group, Central Time Jazz Collective.
Ben Gawiser | Director of Services
As Director of Services, Ben's experience in software development and professional services helps him spearhead our deployment efforts and manage our client services organization.
Ben comes to us from Management Information Consulting where he was a senior consultant helping Fannie Mae with software quality on their financial restatement. Prior to working on the Fannie Mae project, he led the building of an electronic prescribing product. His prior experience includes roles at Sabre Holdings, Acorn Systems, and Trilogy.
Ben holds a BSE in Computer Science from Princeton University and a MBA with honors from The University of Texas at Austin.
Outside the office, Ben is an avid martial artist, holding a 2nd degree black belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate.
